The storm

the skies grow dark
like the pits of hell
and the rain begins to fall
like tears from heaven
a low rumbling in the background
like a chuckle of a giant
and a few flashes of light
like a switch being turned on and off
the wind blows around the trees
making them look as though
they were dancing
the sky grows darker
like the skies without the moon and stars
the rain comes down faster
like running water from a shower
the thunder becomes louder
like the laughter of Godzilla
and the lightning lights up the sky
like fireworks on the Fourth of July
the winds pick up
like the letting loose of a balloon
full of air
the sky is now a violent black hole
and the rain is impossible to see through
the thunder is like a sickening cracking of a whip
and the lightning is like a flashlight
yelling S.O.S
the winds threaten to pull up trees
and bushes
then…
everything goes calm
like the silence before a terrible storm
and then…
the skies go a violent shade of black
the rain is now pieces of ice
the thunder is now shaking the ground
the lightning is now the only source of
light
the wind violently rip the dancing trees
from their homes and thrash them
around like a rag doll
the skies clear
and the sun is out
but trees lie defeated on the ground
and glass like ice is sprawled
out everywhere
disaster left its deathly mark
